Are you looking forward to hitting the road this Summer? We feel you! We, too, are itching to get out of Jefferson City for a little while and go on a road trip adventure to have some healthy fun! That is why in this month’s blog, we are going to share our top ten must-haves for summertime road trips.

Music Playlists -- We like to go onto Spotify and put together three or four playlists. Each person in our family can create their customized playlist of favorite songs, but we challenge everyone not to have any repeat songs, making it more challenging.

Pandemic Prevention Kit -- We stock extra facemasks, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, and several bottles of water, just if we have to go into a large crowd, a restaurant, or a “questionable” restroom situation. Bonus points if the girls pack their pee funnels.

Snacks & Beverages -- Though most of the country is reopening after COVID restrictions, you want to make sure you have backup food supplies in case stores are closed. Pack plenty of snacks and beverages so you and your passengers don’t get “hangry.”

Chargers -- Wouldn’t it be horrible if you forgot to bring the chargers for your mobile devices? Be sure to pack a charger or two so you never lose the ability to call for help during an emergency.

Sunglasses -- Always keep a spare pair of sunglasses available for the driver to improve visibility. Otherwise, the sun may blind you, and you risk hitting something you couldn’t see in front of you.

Sweaters -- The weather may turn chilly, especially if you go hiking in higher elevations. Be prepared by packing sweaters for you and your passengers.

Two Blankets -- Having one blanket is great, but having two blankets is better. If someone gets cold, they can wrap themselves in a blanket. If you need to make an impromptu bed, you have two blankets to insulate you from the ground and the air. Don’t forget to snuggle if you need extra warmth.

Jumper Cables -- You never know if your battery will get drained, and you cannot guarantee that Triple AAA will get to you for a jumpstart on time. You’d better pack a set of jumper cables just in case your car won’t start.

Roadside Emergency Kit -- This kit should include a first aid kit, a flashlight, a spare tire, a lug wrench, a jack, flares, reflectors, and a headlamp, just in case you break down or have a flat tire. Be prepared for anything, so you won’t panic if something goes wrong.

A Brush For Muddy or Sandy Feet -- We keep a handheld brush in our cars to wipe off sandy feet, wipe the mud off our boots, and sweep out debris from our car’s carpets. This simple brush can significantly impact how clean our car remains during a road trip with the kids.
