How To Protect Your Vehicle During Summer’s Sizzle

Summer’s here! The scorching temperatures this season brings can harm your car’s long-term health in a big way, damaging the interior, as well as making you far too warm.

We want to arm you with some ideas to beat the summer heat! That is why we have prepared three common-sense suggestions to ensure you and your vehicle make it through the long hot summer ahead!

Park in a shady spot.

Excessive sun exposure in the year’s hottest period can be devastating for your vehicle. It’s better to park your car in a further but cooler place than to park somewhere hotter to save a couple of minutes of walking. If you plan your trips out towards the morning and the evening, you can find better shade (and more of it).

Tint your windows.

Windows tinting can provide extra protection from the dangerous sun rays. Before you jump into it, please refer to your state’s guidelines. Different states allow different degrees of window tinting. Check local laws before tinting your windows.

Crack your window open after you have exited the vehicle.

Cracking your window even slightly is a good way to let the summer breeze enter your car and make your trip easier to handle! Also, if you open up a back door, you can cycle air through the car by opening and closing a front door repeatedly!

Sometimes problems arise out of nowhere even if you had taken Draconian measures. That’s why, before you start the engine, we invite you to make a reservation with The Auto Shop team for a complete safety inspection. The Auto Shop is located at 612 Missouri Boulevard Court, Jefferson City, MO, 65109, and our business hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM.
